Aw, man.
I remember the Phantom Zone mini-series he did with Gene Colan being the most unsettling Superman story I'd ever read until Alan Moore's stuff.
Mark Evanier's tribute
is simple and touching.

I haven't read that story. I think I'm going to start tracking down the work of his that I missed.
It's a shame. He seems to have been very well liked.
