Chivalry Can Kiss My Ass

OK, so which one of you was it that pointed me towards Last Exile? I'm one disc in and it may be my favorite thing ever. Yes, I am prone to exaggeration, but this has so many greatnesses that I can't even process it, from the techno-bagpipe theme song to the flightsuits to airships at war. Not to mention that I love Claus and Lavie FIERCELY and I am so caught up emotionally that I am talking to the TV, mostly "No no no no no" whenever I am worried that they are in over their heads, which is most of the time. (I am a crazy watcher-person. Fear me.) Maybe later, when I have watched it all, I will have something more coherent to say besides just JOY and YOU ALL NEED TO WATCH THIS.

I have added it to the Netflix queue out of fear of your wrath if I did not.

It is rather wonderful...

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I predict that you will love it! It is beautifully done, and soooo much fun.

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It's amazing! I can't believe the quality of it, considering the production schedule for animated television . . .

Goddamn you; you've already turned me into a Buffy addict I REFUSE TO SUMBIT TO ANY MORE of your tyranny!!!!

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Feh. I can nag you for YEARS. You'll give in eventually.

Only if you make it worth my time.

If you know what I mean.

Netflixy

I wonder if some kind of Netflix mathboth will pop its digital schnozz outta some hole and go, "Whu?" and then troll around until it finds you. I don't know what it would do to you, perzack, but that's what I wonder.

Unfortunately, my Netflixes rolled over just a couple of hours ago and this didn't come in time to interrupt my schedule double-feature of No Country for Old Men and Eragon.

You make it sound like I have a problem or something. That's simply not true! I can gouge out my eyes anytime I want. Like, for example, the next time someone near me is watching "Eragon."

I am so behind on anime, but I shall definitely check this one out.

Please, gouge mine first!

Netflix, here I come!

OH wow, I've been looking for a good anime series to watch forever. I tried fullmetal alchemist and found it full of cliches I got over at age 15. I bumped this one up to the top of my queue -- IT BETTER BE GOOD.

[identity profile] ninstorage.livejournal.com 2008-04-29 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
It's stupendously awesome, yes. I'm in love with the soundtrack :)

[identity profile] scarypudding.livejournal.com 2008-04-29 10:06 am (UTC)(link)
I have to admit I've kind of been avoiding anime since I was seventeen (on account of how American anime fans scare me), but the Wikipedia article had me at "much-feared neutral battleship."

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2008-04-29 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It is!

Hm, I have Fullmetal Alchemist in my queue, too. But then, I am not as versed in anime as you, so perhaps I will not find it as tiresome?

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2008-04-29 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I love the theme song! I keep on trying to sing along, which is an endeavor doomed to failure tanks to my not speaking any Japanese beyond "shigata ga nai."

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2008-04-29 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I am relatively non-conversant with anime myself, aside from some of the basics. But this I love.

And Al and her moo cow-goat thing is so cute!

The Maud and I just spent the past two and a half hours watching the first two discs of Last Exile. We're saving the third one for tomorrow. Which means I'm not finishing my novel this weekend and it really is your fault!

Oh, and Gonzo did an anime version of Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, which was excellent, though not as good as Last Exile.

Oh, you are further along than me, then! Isn't it wonderful?!?

I need to check that out, too.

We can't be further along than you!

I mean the little stuffed animal critter that moos when it falls over? Yes?

Yes, I know the moo toy. I just mean that I've only seen the first disc so far. Hoping to get the second one by early next week. (I am watching many things at once.)

Ohhhh.

Well, the second disc is just as good as the first. Have fun!
