"He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae."
I have been thinking about Kurt Vonnegut lately. I had read most of his books by my early twenties, and despite how hard they hit me (or because of that), most of them I haven't read since. But I miss him a lot right now (I'm actually tearing up as I type this), and I've been thinking about going on a Vonnegut binge. It occurred to me that perhaps some of you would like to join me in that. Sort of a Vonnegut-a-month club, maybe. We could each take a book (dibs on Cat's Cradle!) and rotate hosting discussions of them. At this point there is no plan, but I thought I'd throw it out there for anyone else who might want to revisit him--or read him for the first time, if that's your situation.
Kurt's 86th birthday would have been on November 11, so that seems like a good day to start something. Whaddya think?

I was just talking about Vonnegut the other night with some friends and thinking I should read (and reread) his books. I still haven't read most of them. I'd definitely be interested in something like this.

One of my favorite things is that I share a birthday with Kurt Vonnegut.

Roundabout way of saying, yeah, I could read a book a month with yinz.
Dibs on Slapstick.

I can't decide what to call dibs upon. Slaughterhouse Five or Galapagos... Hmm...
