Thanks for this. I think we need to remind ourselves that we have permission to suck sometimes, that a first draft is just a first draft, that we are allowed to do other things besides write--especially if we need to recharge or think something through before committing it to computer. If someone writes a bad story once in a while, that doesn't make him a bad writer; they can't all be brilliant, but we need to keep doing our best to tell the story we want. I especially like number 2, because I feel I have to justify time spent reading instead of writing, but it really is just as important to grow as a writer.
I, for one, like reading about other writers' processes, because they are often so different. I suppose some non-writers might be bored, though.
