Just Playing Along

Via everybody and their non-gender-specific sibling.

1. Go to http://www.careercruising.com/.
2. Put in Username: nycareers, Password: landmark.
3. Take their "Career Matchmaker" questions.
4. Post the top umpty results:

1. Anthropologist*
2. Historian*
3. Writer
4. Critic
5. Print Journalist*
6. Translator*
7. Communications Specialist*
8. Professor
9. Clergy**
10. Sport Psychology Consultant***

* The primary problem with these would be that I would probably have to talk to strangers on a regular-type basis.
** Heh. Hee. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
*** Talk about out of left field.

The first person to suggest I get my MFA gets smacked.

Why don't you get your PhD in anthropology?

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, FUNNY.

On the serious tip, I wouldn't 'cause I have some issues with the whole culture vulture thing.

[identity profile] rsheslin.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you *could* go the document route with either Historian or Translator, thus avoiding needing to deal with people.

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
True. It's funny, 'cause both of those professions play some part in the novel I'm just finishing up. Vicarious much?

[identity profile] rsheslin.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, *that* works! Be a writer, and you can do it all!

[identity profile] bondgwendabond.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
An MFA in art history?

...

[identity profile] wheatland-press.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I think this points to a clear path:

Twins Clubhouse Chaplain

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, down the road, who knows?

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
The only trouble with that would be my regular lapses of faith.

[identity profile] wheatland-press.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
See? You'd fit right in!

Sorry. I grew up with the Tribe, you know.

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Then you must be enjoying this season!

[identity profile] wheatland-press.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Cleveland sports fans don't have enough faith to really enjoy this kind of season (c.f., the NBA Finals)...we just aren't as miserable as usual. Thanks God the Browns are self-destructing to maintain the Cosmic balance.

:)

Where will you smack me? ;)

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
I can't believe you just turned career counseling into innuendo.

[identity profile] haddayr.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
See, now THAT is something I could turn into a career!

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
How? Soft-core phone sex banter?

[identity profile] haddayr.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
I don't believe soft-core is where the money is, dood.

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, but innuendo isn't hardcore.

Maybe you should look into writing sitcoms. You know, the kind where they have a lot of misunderstandings.

[identity profile] haddayr.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
that's IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could I bring my trained horse to work?

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Is it good at giving pained looks to the camera?

[identity profile] snurri.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Like this?

[identity profile] haddayr.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
No. I'm a terrible trainer and I'm afraid of it.
