OK, regarding this "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" film--am I the only one getting a creepy misogynist vibe from the previews? As in, women can't control their emotions, and powerful women can't control their emotions in really dangerous ways? (See also: Jean Grey, "X-Men 3.") I swear it's not just my Uma-hate. (Or is it? The Uma-hate is strong in this one, it's true.)

At some point this week I will do a reading post, but just for the record my most recently abandoned book was this edition of Lewis and Clark's journals. Possibly it was just bad timing and I'm sure it gets better at some point, but after 50 pages of rain, resupply, record mileage, repeat, I had to put it down.

Still looking for a job. Anyone got one lying around?

I share your Uma hate, and am completely turned off by the "woman scorned" stereotype prevalent in all the advertising. I actually get angry whenever I see the trailer.

It's a shame, too, since I love superhero movies.

Not at all. My comment to Tim after seeing the preview in the theatre was, "Great idea for a movie, though I really wish they'd gone with "My Super Ex-Boyfriend" instead".

Have to go with "My Super Ex-Girlfriend," because a guy being tormented by a girl is still "funny" in some circles. If it was a Superman, it would turn into a Lifetime Movie.

I'm hoping that it turns out that her overreacting is actually caused by his new girlfriend, who's the Supervillainess using some sort of mind control ray on the two of them. That would redeem it for me.
