I went down to Rice Park to see the Winter Carnival ice sculptures, because it was a warm day. Can you spot the problem? It was a warm day. Many of the sculptures had already melted to the point where they were unrecognizable. But I took some pictures anyway.

This was the first day in January that the temperature was above freezing. It's pretty unusual to have a stretch like that here, though.

The roads here are INSANELY ripped up from weather we've been having. You can practically watch potholes appear.

It seems almost purposeful of nature that it was so damn cold this month that most people just stayed indoors and then on the day of the ice sculpture contest, the temps go above freezing. It was nice to feel the warmth of the sun again, though.

Well, the sculptures have been there since last weekend. But it's a bit of a Catch-22 that the first day nice enough to make me want to walk down there is the first day guaranteed to make it all fall apart.

Ahh, I hadn't realized the Winter Carnival had been going on so long. Being in Minneapolis, I'm never really aware of what's actually going on in St. Paul which is odd considering that it's just right next door.
