Story Link + A Familiar Meme

A. In case you missed the link yesterday, here's my neo-picaresque crone's fairy tale at Farrago's Wainscot, complete with photo illustration by Rick Bowes.

B. This meme never stops going around, but I happened to have a great book right in front of me, so here you go:

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 4-7 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest (unless it's too troublesome to reach and is really heavy. Then go back to step 1).

"This is Mabry's old place." Luis sighed and turned back to her. "Look, I don't want you talking to my brother. Faeries messed him up pretty bad. You leave him alone."

"Sure," Corny said.

(That's from Holly Black's Ironside, which I highly recommend.)

Isn't it fabulous? As soon as I've done all my duty reading. I'm gunna reread her three YAs in order: Tithe then Valiant then Ironside. I can't wait!

I think that's the order I read them in; but I'd like to reread them again too. I know for sure I missed some of the connections in the later books . . .

Looking forward to reading this one. And damn it, my supercool local library doesn't have Ironside yet. Guess I will have to buy it! Valiant was just too good for me to wait for the library to get this one.

I so loved Valiant. My one wish about Ironside would be that there had been more Val.

Yay, Ironside!
