Smells Like Nostalgia

The benefit of forgetting to shuffle songs: I might never have realized that I had four versions of "Alone and Forsaken" on the iPod. All of them are awesome.

Today I am wishing I lived on a spaceship. Anyone with docking information on Moya, Serenity, or the Starjammer (or the Spelljammer, for that matter), please contact me. Anyone wishing to provide references to the effect that I have skills appropriate for space travel and/or adventuring (in other words, anyone willing to lie for me), please contact me discreetly.

The best movie I've seen lately was "Oldboy," which was deeply, deeply fucked up and also deeply engrossing.

I finished re-reading Watchmen last night; it'd been long enough that I'd forgotten a lot of things. Like re-reading The Stars My Destination, it was a bit of a shock to realize how much of it my subconscious had turned bits of it into bits of my own stories. I'm fine with stealing stuff when I know I'm doing it, but it's a bit distressing to realize that sometimes I do it and have no clue that I'm doing it. I'm afraid to re-read any more of my top books, now.

As I am finishing up the Succession book (there may be a title poll later, as I still haven't settled on one), I am having the distressing feeling that it is not done. I mean, it's over 100k, so it's a book. My fear is that too many things are left unresolved, and a part of my brain is screaming "SEQUEL!" To be honest, it's been screaming that for the better part of a year, but I've had it locked up in a cell in the basement where I couldn't hear it. Somebody make it shut up.

Be right back, I'm going to get the key to the basement...

Well, okay, a gun, too. If you think the sequel needs to be armed...

Traitor.

(P.S.: June, if the latest news is accurate . . .)

Ooh! June is a great month!! And BEA is in June...!

Yup. And that would mean I could still possibly launch at WisCon, as I'd originally hoped!

Oh, god. "Oldboy." I'm so glad I saw it but I can't watch it again.

Have you seen either of the other two in the Vengeance Trilogy?

I, uh, did not realize it was part of a trilogy.

Off to Netflix!!

It's kind of an unofficial trilogy, really. Linked thematically more than anything else. The other two are Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. To be honest, I haven't seen them. My husband swerved from Park Chan-wook to Takashi Miike and we haven't gone back.

I've refused to see Ichi the Killer but Zebraman is one of my all-time favorite movies. Amazing that the same guy can create both. *And* The Bird People in China to boot.
