So, yup. Today is the day. I have been, frankly, nothing but anxiety for the past few weeks, but today I am feeling pretty Zen about this whole thing. It's not, after all, as though I have a lot of control over what happens from here. (Although I know that my Dad is going around to every bookstore in the area and facing it out. You rock, Dad.) All I'll say is, the first couple of weeks' sales are crucial, so if you're thinking about maybe buying the book at some point, maybe you could think about buying it like, now. Just a thought :-)

A couple of links: Niall gives the book the sort of thoughtful review that makes all of this worthwhile; Annalee at io9 gives the book a shout-out. Also, apparently the book got a major plug in the magazine PiQ which I have never seen but which I love.

A reminder, too, about the reading on Thursday at Dreamhaven: 7:30, 912 West Lake Street in Minneapolis, be there or miss it. Here's the bio I gave them:

David's secret identity is known only to the Saint Paul Curling Club, the Shadow Hanseatic League, and a hyperintelligent squirrel named Chester. Because of the need for secrecy he hand-washes his costumes, and fights crime only when it is convenient. Authorities estimate that his short stories have caused as much crime as they have prevented, and do not recommend tugging on his cape.

Go on now, little book. Make me proud.

YAYAYAY! I wish so much that I could be there at your reading. I'ma text you something fierce, so better turn down your ringer volume unless you want to get beeped constantly in the middle of a chapter.

Picked it up on Saturday. Turned my store's other copy face out.
Read it Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Rather liked it.
Review coming as soon as I have time to write it.

Would you rather I purchase from online (Amazon) or locally (Borders-Boston). Or wait until Readercon in the dealers room?

Would love to make the reading, but alas, too far to travel.

Hi, JoAnn!

Either online or bookstore sales count towards those crucial opening-period sales. ReaderCon's a bit too far off to factor into that. (There's a decent chance I may be going, BTW, but I'm not sure yet so I've been putting off answering your message.)

Minneapolis Public Library has 3 copies on order, plus a hold on the first copy:

I recommend bookstore. Units moved is units moved on one level, but units moved through a bookstore makes it more likely that the bookstore will stock copies of his next book.

On its way from Amazon! I paired it with Walking Dead Book One to add some zombie goodness to the mix ;)

I would just like to mention that while I would have faced the books if I'd had to, they already were. And I thought two rows of them would just be greedy.

WoooHOOOOOOO! I ordered two books at Magers & Quinn and told him you were local, so to order more to keep in stock. He said he would.

No, haven't read Invincible. I've seen some ads for it, though. What's the gist?
