Juno is hilarious and wonderful and y'all should go see it. Ellen Page just rocks. Michael Cera is subtle and noble and ridiculous. Jennifer Garner is actually kind of heartbreaking. [livejournal.com profile] haddayr and I both felt the dialog rang a little false at the beginning, but either it got better or I got used to it and I laughed more and harder than I have in a long while.

Afterwards, Haddayr and I stopped by Dreamhaven, had dinner at her house, and she handed me off to her husband for the evening flick.

I Am Legend is, for me, as missable as any film with Will Smith. Nothing against the man himself--he's hammy at times, but otherwise generally solid. But the vehicles he chooses are invariably shiny and noisy and forgettable. Lots of tension in this one, and if a blockbuster is what you're in the mood for then that's what you'll get. I have yet to read the book (novella?) myself, but according to [livejournal.com profile] janradder there were significant and unwelcome changes. Plus, all the CGI in the world.

In conclusion: see Juno.
