I missed this last night, but I'm pretty sure that's what the Internet is for.

For those who haven't yet read The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, don't hold the fact that it won the Pulitzer against it. It's actually painfully good. As in, so good that it's painful. Díaz has the geek cred to make the awkward, hardcore nerd life sing as well as sting. And it's got to be the first book I've ever read that used the adjective "melnibonean" to refer to someone other than Elric.

I saw that on the tellie and it totally made me want to read everything he's ever written. He talked about triffids! What a charmer.

Yeah, he seems really self-effacing. I recall some quote or other where he made fun of himself for taking ten years to finish the novel. And, seriously, the book is chock-full of geekspeak.
