Check it out: I'm the Big Idea over at the Whatever! This one was fun to write. One thing that's interesting about all the interviews and publicity is that in a way it's forced me to think about the book in ways I didn't while I was writing it. Next time I'm going to do a first draft, then do the publicity, and revise accordingly. YES I AM A GENIUS.

Since this is already a book post, some more mentions out there in the Intrawebs: specifically Dreamwatch Total SciFi and BlogCritics.org. And check out these banner ads at Boldtype! I hadn't even seen those before. They're all cascade-y.

In NON-BOOK news, I just found out that Xcel Energy is imploding the smokestack near the High Bridge tomorrow; that would be the real-life counterpart of this. Crazy. In my lifetime I've walked, biked and driven past that thing thousands of times, crossing that bridge. I'm going to go down there tomorrow morning--they're saying it'll happen around 7:30 AM--to see it fall and to start getting used to the weird gap in the sky. Anybody else getting up early on a Saturday morning to watch something fall down and probably get a snootful of dust? Yeah. Thought not.

Hooray for more publicity! The Big Idea was a fun read.

(I'm a friend of [livejournal.com profile] bertine's, by the way. She ordered me to buy Superpowers, which I did - and read it in one sitting, on a Friday night. Then she told me to friend you, which I did, because apparently her suggestions are good.)

Welcome aboard! I am pleased that you liked the book.

Bertine is indeed formidable, but since she is my younger cousin I forbid you to tell her that I said so.

Great interview, Dave. Though I must say I am partial to the cosmic slugfest (Hulk vs. Thing, Thor vs. Hercules, Howard the Duck vs. Power Pack!).

Can't wait to read it,

JSR

Hey, I like a good cosmic slugfest now and again! I'm just saying, I sometimes feel like there are other things to talk about, closer to home. Or that both can be done, like in this week's Immortal Iron Fist #16. Sniff.

I read and commented in your Big Idea post on Scalzi's blog this morning, added your book to my wish list, and added you to my F-list. This afternoon, I noticed you friended me back - thank you. I will probably be able to move it from my wish list to my cart in a couple of weeks (I just had a major release day that I need to pay for, so next paycheck). It sounds like a great book, so I'm looking forward to it.
