Dude, milk ain't all that transportable. There are dairy farms in _all_ states. That's why dairy production numbers, with some exceptions, closely map to population numbers. California is the biggest dairy state by far, and New York's a big one, too. Wisconsin comes in between them at #2, and is something of an anomaly because of the cheese thing--a lot of their production doesn't go to potable milk. Of course, the fact that they've got Milwaukee and Chicago and even the Twin Cities as their big milk customers pumps that up, too. Minnesota is #6 and Kentucky is #24.
