First of all, check out this comic by Andrew Drilon. It's really damn cool. (Via Dean.)

Second, The Daily Cabal, which publishes a new microfiction every day. Some talented folks over there. I should have linked to this long ago, but it took Rudi Dornemann pandering to my demographic (in the best possible way) to get me to finally do so. So, check it out.

Something I keep forgetting to mention: The Best of Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet is out and, from what I've seen, garnering excellent reviews. It includes my story "The Ichthyomancer Writes His Friend with an Account of the Yeti's Birthday Party," which was kind of a breakthrough story for me, and one which I still love. It's in great company, too, with pieces by folks like . . . well, I could start to list them, but there are too many great and wonderful writers (and people!) to mention here. The full TOC is here. You want this book!

I never did mention that my weekend was awesome; Karen and J. came up from Madison to hang with me and Haddayr and her family. Highlights included: a giant piece of lemon torte at Cafe Latte; me and J. jumping on the bed while Karen and Haddayr argued about TV shows; an evening walk around my neighborhood, with J. using his powerful magic to transport us to parallel worlds; comics geekery with Karen and Jan; a visit to Wild Rumpus with Karen, J., Haddayr, and her boys; pretending to run into a pole, not realizing that this would need to be repeated many times for J.'s entertainment; and driving the wrong way on 94 at the end of the day but not noticing thanks to the conversation Karen and I were having. It felt like I didn't get to talk to Karen all that much, because J. and I were having so much fun. Glad to have them here.
