So my fave actress ever, Kate Winslet, finally can call herself an Academy Award-winning Actress. And today I can call myself a Nebula Award-nominated Author. Holy shit!

When I first heard the news I was stunned, because I did not (probably still do not) understand how the nomination process works. I wasn't on the long list, so how did I end up on the final ballot? As shsilver explained when he called to notify me, it's because of the book jury, which had the option of choosing one book to add to the list. One. Book. Kinda feels like I won something already, when I think about that. I don't have to look far to be humbled, though; look at the names I'm nominated with:
