Panic attacks so rarely pick convenient moments.
But I also know what you mean about being alone and miserable in a crowd. So much easier to go home and read a book instead, you know?
Mostly it happens when I'm down, but it'll just hit me randomly sometimes, too.
I've noticed it happens more when I'm bottoming out on my mood swings, too.
