1. I am one of the interviewees in Locus magazine this month. Lest that make you reluctant to pick up a copy, the other interviewee is Connie Willis, so.

2. Paper Cities, the World Fantasy Award-nominated anthology in which my story "The Somnambulist" appears, is now available on the Kindle.

3. Not so much an announcement, but I will be dropping by the Twin Cities Book Festival tomorrow at some point, so if you're going to be there let me know and we can look for each other.

I was interviewed by Frank Byrns over at A Thousand Faces: The Quarterly Journal of Superhuman Fiction. An excerpt:

One thing that bothered me about The Incredibles was that the self-made character, the character who went to a determined and ingenious effort to better himself, was the villain. This isn't an uncommon meme in superhero stories; most of the heroes are given power, either through accidents (birth, explosion, radioactive spider-bite) or by way of an inherited fortune. On the villain side we find an inordinate amount of "mad scientist" characters, but really the only difference between them and Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne is the size of their R&D budget--I might turn to crime too, if it was the only way to fund my world-saving invention without handing it over to a corporation.

Thing One: Today I am interviewed by Gwenda over at Shaken & Stirred as part of the Summer Blog Blast Tour organized by Colleen Mondor. (You can follow the rest of the interview fun over at Colleen's blog.) After the initial nervousness of this interview thing, I'm starting to sort of enjoy it. This one was particularly fun.

Thing Two: My friend Derek Hill, fellow first-year Odyssey student and all-around fine human being, has a film book out about, well--the title is Charlie Kaufman and Hollywood's Merry Band of Pranksters, Fabulists and Dreamers: An Excursion Into the American New Wave. It's out in the UK, that is, and will soon be out here. Pretty much I'd want to read this one even if I didn't know Derek was an awesome writer.

Thing Three: More Secret City tomorrow, I promise. Might not be any for a couple of weeks after that, though, with WisCon impending.
