I don't think it means any of those things. I've never seen that acronym before IN MY LIFE. It scares me and makes me feel stupid and depressed. I hate myself.
It's OK to be completely unplugged from the culture, you know. It saves your brainspace for important things like sports trivia and the engine specs for your roaring SUV.
DIY is one of the acronyms we throw around like crazy here at my acronym-crazed workplace. Where it refers to do it yourself. I have at least convinced people not to call it DIY in our public communication about the DIY thingy.
No, I just think it's unfriendly - as makes it sound like we're putting the burden on them instead of doing it ourselves, which isn't really accurate anyway. People here are very attached to their acronyms. It can take someone months to figure out what anyone is talking about.
