Seeking Information

I'm considering making some stories available at Anthology Builder: any thoughts? Who's done this? Who's leery?

My thought is, I want to see proof that somebody's actually buying anthologies first.

Yeah, but on the other hand, if nobody puts anything up there worth buying, who would?

(Which is not to imply that what's there isn't worthwhile. But there isn't a lot of it.)

True. I'm just particularly cynical about the short story readership. I'm not convinced it's wide enough to make this kind of project worthwhile.

Well, how much would be worthwhile? If, say, ten people who hadn't read my stories before decided to nab one, that'd be worth it for me, I think.

Oh, I should say that by "worthwhile" I don't mean money...

Ten would be awesome. Especially if they're not already writers. Do you think it's likely to reach beyond the writer circle?

I think it might have to reach some sort of critical mass first, but it seems possible. It's a very long-tail approach, which I think might appeal to some people.
