From the source:

That's right: Old Man Farrago is passing the plate once again--Farrago's Wainscot is looking for handouts.

It's been two years since those of us behind the scenes first hung out our Internetly shingle, and a good two years it's been. In that time, we've published 43 pieces of short fiction, 12 serial novel installments, 38 poems, 6 non-fiction pieces, and 11 things that we just can't classify. It's all available here. Further, we won the 2007 Preditors & Editors Readers' Poll Award for "Best Fiction Magazine/Ezine," as well as the 2007 Million Writers Award for "Best New Online Magazine or Journal." Some individual works have garnered laurels of their own: Catherynne M. Valente's poem, "The Seven Devils of Central California," won the 2008 Rhysling Award for Best Long Poem (reprinted in The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror 2008); Lise Goett's "Thanatos," Yoon Ha Lee's "Notes on the Necromantic Symphony," and David J. Schwartz's "Oma Dortchen and the Pillar of Story" all received Honorable Mentions in The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror 2008. Not bad, we think, for such a young magazine.

But, what's truly important about our first two years is that none of this material would have seen "print" without the support of our readers. Taking the time to read and analyze what we publish is the first, best form of contribution we could ask for. Secondly, the generous donations we've received have allowed us to cover our operating costs and pay our contributors. Beginning with Issue 9 on January 1, 2009, we will increase our contributors' payments from $5 to $20 per piece. To that end, we're asking for your help. Most (if not all) of us are in the midst of difficult economies, and we understand that it's difficult to justify giving money away when there are more important bills to pay. However, if you have even one dollar to spare, it goes to support the writers who are giving contemporary, cultural voice to our shared era.

If $1 is beyond your reach, we could use your help spreading the Farrago word. The more of us who link to, blog about, or otherwise mention Farrago's Wainscot, the larger the awareness of our writers' work will become. In exchange, we'll happily swap links if you (or your organization) also concentrate on liminal artistic modes.

2009 is already shaping up to be another good year for Team Farrago, and we hope you can be a part of that with us.

From Rob Liefeld, horrible artist and worse writer:

First and foremost, as I looked over the collection, the thing that hits me is that this was the work of a hyper-active 22 year old. Twenty-two years old!. Crap, I was a prolific little s**t. I mean between X-Force, Cable, Deadpool, Youngblood . . . what was I drinking, y'know? The stylistic stuff, the skinny ankles, the cross-hatching, none of that gets in the way, it's all part of the evolution.

Back then, I was thinking I need to make the most kick-ass high octane in your face comic books. Period. That's what transformed New Mutants from a sissy book that sold 100,000 copies to the last three issues which all approached and then achieved one million sales. New Mutants sold 1 million copies, four printings, no damn gimmicks, opening the way for X-Force and later Youngblood. So I was locked into a style of comics that has served and continues to serve me well years later.

Bonus for the New Mutants fans reading this LJ, and I know there are a few; in the comments over at Newsarama Rob the Enlightened One clarifies that he was only calling it "a sissy book" because it had girls in it. THANKS FOR CLEARING THAT UP ROB FOR A MINUTE THERE I THOUGHT YOU WERE BEING INSULTING.
