I did not win a Nebula, but I got to give a speech anyway.

To clarify: I lost the Best Novel award to Ursula K. Le Guin. This will go down as one of the proudest moments of my life, because I can't think of anyone I would rather lose to.

The winner of the Norton Award was my pal Ysabeau Wilce, and as she was unable to attend I had the privilege of giving her speech and hanging out with her pretty award for a while. Yay Ysa!

I am also very, very pleased that John Kessel won the Neb for his novelette "Pride and Prometheus." Very well-deserved.

Congrats to all the winners and all the nominees, and hello to all the lovely people I was able to spend time with. It was a whirlwind 48 hours, and there is much more to tell, but right now I am going to bed.

I'm so glad to read that even the losing part was such a nice experience for you.

Me, I'm still so proud to walk around and go "um, yeah, those Nebula awards? Well, my friend was actually nominated for one!". It's even more impressive from this side of the ocean. Go you.

And with that, good night! Or rather, good morning, by the time you read this.

Thank you, Nilly. I fully expected to lose; but the nomination is pretty great all by itself. I can carry that around forever, now.

"I lost to Ursula K. LeGuin" is certainly not a sentence everyone can get to say! Dang, go you!!

I know, right? "You think you're better than me? Well, Ursula LE GUIN is better than me! Got it?!?"

Congratulations on getting beat by Le Guin! That is definitely the most thrilling way to not-win an award. And how nifty that you got to give Ysabeau's speech! Sounds like it was a great weekend.

It was good, but I am not a zombie who craves brains because his own are failing to function.

One does not need to be deficient in grey matter to appreciate a fine tasty brainsnack.

Er, that was supposed to be "now." NOW a zombie. Hopefully that was comprehensible . . .

Who needs words to explain yourself when your icon makes it all so clear?

Since I have no great love for LeGuin, I will still be annoyed that you didn't win. Still, top five ain't chopped liver.
