My review is up at Strange Horizons; go here.

Thanks to Niall for asking me to review it. Nice to have something I could really sink my teeth into.

I very thorough and thoughtful review, David. I was intrigued about the film when I saw trailers for it, but am really interested now in seeking it out.

Thanks, Jason; this is my first real film review, so I'm glad it went over well.

And yes, definitely check out the film. It's fascinating.

And a MySpace page!

Unfortunately it also has a sponsored LJ community where a bunch of sock puppets have been raving about the film and created a bit of a backlash. But corporate shill jobs aside, the film stands on its own merits.

Thanks!

It appears (from your review) that you were frustrated by the boy/man thing, and understandably so. It seems to me that the film is being marketed a little strangely; they're playing up the romantic angle, but as a romance it's problematic at best. I saw it more as a coming-of-age story, without the actual coming-of-age.
