Am presently watching this version of Nicholas Nickleby, my fave Dickens, and this movie is awesome. Nathan Lane is killing me.

I don't think I can ever see the updated version of The Producers. It wouldn't be right.

One of the most amazing things about that Nickleby was how very gay it all was. I mean, the subtext was very nearly text, particularly in the Nicholas/Smike relationship. And then you have Lane and Dame Edna playing a couple . . .

It was completely gay. Don't try to tell me the shirtless scenes in the boarding school weren't pure man-candy!

And the adoring looks that Jamie Bell kept giving Nicholas were pure adoration. Preparation for his role as the young paramour in King Kong.
