I Just Woke Up

But I am finally home.

5:40 flight on Saturday canceled, on standby for two more (delayed) flights, kicked out of terminal at 2 something, tried to sleep in baggage claim and check-in areas with no success, got screwed out of two more flights in the morning, finally found someone with a brain who put me on a flight to San Fran and a connection over to Chicago. Got home about 6:30 last night and have been sleeping ever since.

Oh dear. You got trapped in the LAX-verse. I got stuck there overnight once (oddly, they didn't kick us out, but there were a LOT of us); the only thing I remember is pain pain pain and having the best breakfast burrito in the world at some sort of 1950s-esque diner in one of the terminals. I did not feel one bit like Tom Hanks.

I did not eat at LAX yesterday morning, but I had a corned beef sandwich in the San Francisco airport which managed to restore my will to live.

I'm happy to have joined the ranks of the survivors.

I couldn't make sense of it either, but apparently American Airlines doesn't have any wee-hour flights out of LAX. I'd have gotten a hotel for the night, but at that point it would have been lie-down-then-answer-the-wake-up-call for the first standby flight in the AM.
