Tonight I watched my first ever full episode of "Heroes."

. . .

"Chuck" was pretty good.

Ellipses are so useful!

I still have to check out Chuck but I seem strangely resistant to Heroes supposed charms. I plan to try again, with lower expectations.

"Chuck" was better than pretty good, actually. Funny, great stunts, and on the shallow side, Yvonne Strzechowski is extremely easy on the eyes.

I'm told there is also George Takei, but it'll probably be some years before I find out in either case. I just don't have room for a new TV show in my life.

From what I saw, there won't be any more George Takei. For whatever that's worth.

Oh, well; hell with 'em, then.

Oh, you know better -- death means nothing to a show like this that jumps around in time.

"Heroes" is the only tv show in my life. Probably because I can get listening practice for Japanese while watching it.

I wasn't overly impressed with the episode though.

I liked that aspect of it. If the show had been all about Hiro I might have been more intrigued.

I watched the entire first season of Heroes, but I'm not sure I'm going to last until Kristen Bell shows up, either.

Did you watch it accidentally?

I gave it a try after Christopher and Gwenda recommended it over Thanksgiving. For a while the first season was quite entertaining, using breakneck plotting to compensate for its shortcomings. But the momentum flagged by the end of the season, and unless it kicks into high gear again soon, I'll be giving up on it.

Ah. Yeah, it does seem like the twists and turns of the plot are what people respond to. I don't know. I think that coming in only knowing what I'd gathered from promos and overheard conversation made last night's episode more overwhelming than entertaining. Maybe next week will be better.

See, I don't really like the twists and turns -- and I particularly hated the serial killing of female characters -- but the show has something, at its best, moments of pure derivative inventiveness that are so much fun. Claire gets a lot of them, and so does Hiro. I hope they don't try and make it too dark, because that will kill that and then... well, I don't really remember anything from the episode the other night in a strong way.

I like "derivative inventiveness" :-)

We shall see. I think I'm going to keep watching "Chuck," so I will probably give "Heroes" a few more episodes.

I liked Chuck okay, but I think Reaper is better. (But I'll keep watching them both, cause one will probably get canned, and I did like them both.)

"Reaper" was so completely off my radar that I didn't even know it was on.

I think perhaps I relate a bit too closely to aspects of Chuck's loser-dom.
